Body Otherness & Depersonified Object-ification Workshop
Archived Event
“Body Otherness & Depersonified Object-ification Workshop,” facilitated by the artist enormousface, was a dynamic exploration of the erosion of ontological concepts such as self, other, body, being, personhood, subject, object, and the human. Participants engaged in a range of physical and mental experiments designed to challenge and expand their understanding of these concepts.
The workshop comprised both individual and group segments, incorporating a mix of traditional and unconventional exercises. Notable elements of the workshop included clothing-optional portions, segments of Horror-Dance, practices of Stillness, and experiences of Unbeing. Participants were encouraged to have elastic boundaries in terms of self and thought. The workshop was accessible to all levels of experience and accommodated a wide range of possibilities.
While expertise in disciplines like butoh, puppetry, and philosophy was considered beneficial, participants were also encouraged to approach these with a sense of temporary forgetfulness, allowing for a more immersive and unencumbered exploration of the workshop themes.
