Alexa Wilson Video Retrospective: Selected 5 videos over 20 years
Archived Event
As a trained performance, dance and video artist filmmaker Alexa Wilson presenting across NZ, Europe, North America and Asia has created and infused video work within and around her performance practice for 25 years. This event showcased five selected works from different projects, each centering around Wilson’s own body as a medium for social commentary. Spanning over two decades into the 21st Century, these works mirrored the pressing concerns of the times. They delved into a wide array of topics, including gender politics and its interrogation of nature/culture dynamics, sexuality, love, and power. Additionally, they touched on ecological and social crises, affecting relationships to social care, sustainability, and notions of death, offering a reflective and critical examination of contemporary issues through the lens of performance art.
