I WANT TO DANCE WITH MY ATUA BODIES

I Want to Dance With my Atua Bodies is an exploration of the internal and external ecologies that influence the body of a contemporary wāhine. Rachel explores this within the context of remembering a Māori whakapapa of anatomy, the intersections of motherhood and performance making. A journey is undertaken in real time, unfolding as an experiment in sensation, desire, memory and potentials of movement and vibration. Domestic and wild objects are brought into the space as activators, characters, elements and provocations for the body to engage with. This performance will be intimate, personal and mythologica; to open up spaces for contemplation and connections beyond the rational.

If you would like to watch a recording of Rachel’s online performance, she is asking for a donation for this work, which can be deposited in the following account: R C Ruckstuhl-Mann 38-9010-0862553-03. You can then email her at rachel.r.m@gmail.com, after which she will send you a link to the video. You can check out other work Rachel has made and public classes and workshops she offers at rachelrm.wixsite.com/rachelrm
